This provisional patent application addresses a variety of feature for a InnerView™ device. One feature is a hollow disposable feature which separates the energy application tool of the InnerView™ device from the object during use, such as to reduce cross-contamination or the need to clean the device between uses, and may extend toward the surface of the object to aid in accommodating irregular surfaces (e.g. concave or convex) to ensure proper energy delivery to the object from the energy application tool. Another feature is a contact force sensing system which measures the contact force during placement of the InnerView™ device on the object by measuring pressure transmitted from a tip assembly to a force sensor via a transfer body. The contact force measuring is decoupled from the energy application tool so applied forces do not interfere with each other and the contact force of the tip is measured accurately. The measurement of contact force may further be utilized as a logic gate for activation of the device. Other features addressed include one-time use controls for disposable components, wireless communication and audio/visual feedback to the user.
